We’ve discussed Dr. James Levine of the NEAT (Non-exercise Activity Thermogenesis) lab at the Mayo Clinic before. The NEAT program is developing workspaces that allow for exercise during the normal flow of work. One of their prime innovations is the concept of the treadmill desk. While I’d swear that Al Jaffee of Mad Magazine drew one of these in the 1970’s, no one seems to have done anything about it until NEAT came along.

The news is that over at Seth Godin’s Squidoo network, Thomas Niccum has created a lens (Squidoo-ese for “blog”) devoted to the topic, “Walking While Working: How to Take Your Cubicle from ‘Fattening Pen’ to ‘Fitness Center’”.

Thomas’ lens is a fairly thorough source of information and products for exploring this exciting new movement that takes in-office-fitness beyond the simple executive fidget toy.
